Longitudes and Latitudes

Eh sorry, I ve kept you wondering where I ve gone. It is due to some domestic and personal emergency tasks. However, I ve come back at last!

This is an important topic in high school mathematics. However, the topic is based on the assumption that the earth is a perfect sphere. Really the earth is not a sphere! Or a perfect like a football.

It bulges out at the equator and flattens at the polar regions.

What is Longitude? and What is latitudes?

Longitudes are lines that run from North to South east and West of the Central one referred to as Greenwich Meridian.

Latitudes lines are lines runs from east to west of the earth and parallel to the central one called equator.

Both the Longitudes and latitudes are being used to calculate distances from one place to the other around the globe.
