A Great mathematician-Thales of Miletus
Thales of Miletus
One day
Thales a famous mathematician from Miletus was busy watching the sky.
Unfortunately for him he didn’t know there was a pit before him, because he was
deeply busy at what he was gazing up. Accidentally he fell into the pit.
A good old
woman saw him and made this quote-
“When thou
canst see a pit before you, how sure are we that thou canst show us what’s
happeneth beyond.”
Thales was
born in Miletus in 624 BC. He was among the first seven sages of the ancient
Greece.
He is known as the first Greek philosopher, engineer, mathematician and
scientist that founded and contributed a lot to the geometry of lines and
particularly abstract geometry.
For some few
days now we will be discussing geometry.
